When

Sunday, December 13, 2026
Scrimmage: 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Setup: 8 a.m.
Warm-up and check-in: 8:30 a.m.

Where

Westminster High School Gym
Enter from Hazard Avenue. The gym is to the right of the pool.

Entry

$10 per person · cash or Zelle
Ages 9+. A portion of the proceeds supports the school badminton program.

Team levels

Organizers may move a team to a different level after three consecutive losses or at their discretion.
Teams must play at the higher of their two players’ levels. For example, a Group D player partnering with a Group E or Novice player must play in Group D.

Format

Round robin with no elimination.
Boys’ doubles, girls’ doubles, and mixed doubles teams compete together within each level.
Each player may enter one event. Teams should expect about seven matches.
Each match is one game to 31 points, with no win-by-two requirement. Switch sides when the first team reaches 15.

Game-day rules

No school uniforms. Other matching uniforms are allowed.
No coaching.
One feather shuttlecock is provided per match. Bring your own extras if needed.
One minute to warm up serves before each match. The winning team returns the shuttlecock and reports the score.

Good to know

Bring your own food and drinks. A water fountain and refill station are available.
Your team number appears in the list below and will be used to call matches.
Teams that do not show up will not be eligible for the next scrimmage.
Boba milk tea, snacks, stickers, and pins will be available.

Tony Gunawan founded Global Badminton Academy in 2010 to share the skills and knowledge he gained at the highest level of badminton. As co-founders and head coaches, Tony and Eti Gunawan help players develop their skills through coaching, focused practice, and competition.

The academy helps athletes build their fundamentals, prepare for competition, and grow as part of a supportive badminton community.

Tony Gunawan

An Olympic gold medalist and two-time world champion, Tony brings elite doubles experience to the practice court. He won Olympic gold for Indonesia in 2000 and world titles in 2001 and 2005 — the latter alongside Howard Bach for the United States.

Eti Gunawan

Eti helps lead GBA’s athletes as a coach and team manager. At the 2025 Superliga Junior in Indonesia, she guided the academy’s young players as they gained international team experience and prepared for the challenges of world junior competition.
